On the afternoon of Monday 1st October members of the Hub met to prepare for the performance review the following day, and also to participate in group discussions around various topics.

Before buckling down to work Hub members enjoyed a networking lunch and the opportunity to look at a series of posters describing different Hub projects. After lunch Hub Director Xungai gave a presentation about the Hub and our progress – the same presentation he would give to the ARC panel the following day, while Hub Manager Emma spoke about the logistics of the panel visit, feedback from the practice review, and the outcomes of a recent survey.

Participants then split into three groups – PhD students, research staff, and CIs and PIs, discussing topics ranging from the Hub strategic plan, strengths/weaknesses of the Hub, enrichment of the student/early career researcher

experience and post-Hub options.

The day culminated in each group reporting back on what they discussed with many great ideas emerging. One particular highlight was from the PhD group saying they enjoyed the opportunity to get to know each other and their projects better, and also to think about where their projects fit within the Hub.
