We were very pleased to welcome visitors from the ARC Training Centre for Innovative BioEngineering to Deakin.

Training Centre Director Professor Hala Zreiqat, from The University of Sydney led the delegation who visited the Hub at Deakin’s Institute for Frontier Materials on 19th September. Joining Hala were Training Centre members Dr Yogambha Ramaswamy, Dr Gurvinder Singh and Dr Young No, as well as Centre Business Manager Dr Peter Newman.

The Training Centre aims to apply principles of engineering design and analysis to solve biological and medical problems.

It was a fantastic day of knowledge sharing as we presented our Hub research and capabilities, and the Training Centre presented theirs. Several areas of synergy emerged during discussions, focused on the use of fibres in medical applications, 3D printing of biomaterials, and biological testing capabilities. A tour of our facilities was followed by lunch and continuation of discussions around research synergies, potential collaborations, and even Hub/Centre management processes.
